Have you ever met someone who seemed perfect in every way?
Indeed, Reia did.
His name was Adrin, the guy she had met during a compulsory college project. Reia thought Adrin would be another random person passing by in her life as she didn’t fully commit to the project. In the very first meeting, she saw Adrin in his t-shirt and jeans, nothing attractive for Reia to put her eyes on him. She formally shook his hand, introducing herself professionally.
“I hope we can get along well, Rei.” He said with a genuine grin on his face.
Reia nodded her head as she smiled awkwardly, nothing came out of her lips.
Reia and Adrin both had to engage the target audience as part of the project's requirements. That meant she'd be seeing Adrin frequently as they had to go back and forth to the same place. Reia witnessed firsthand that Adrin dedicated himself completely to the work at hand. He spared no effort in ensuring that his tasks were finished perfectly. They had become quite close since they had spent so much time together by chance. Reia was afraid her friendship with Adrin would cease along with the project. But, she was completely wrong as Adrin caught feelings for her.
Adrin was a good person as Reia believed, but she didn’t know him yet as they barely knew each other, it was just one semester. When Adrin asked her to be in a relationship with him, Reia didn’t instantly reject him instead saying, “Let’s take it easy, I need some time to get to know you.”
Adrin chuckled and grabbed Reia hand as he joked, “I’m Adrin, and you Miss?”
Reia couldn’t hold back her laughter and they had a great time together. The way Adrin treated her made Reia realise that a flawless person exists in this world. He made sure she was doing okay even it was just through a small bubble chat, took time out of his day to listen to her stories, supported all her decisions and rarely judged her.
They had got along very well before Reia though that the gap between her and Adrin was to wide including almost all aspect in their lives. What made Reia feel insecure was the fact that she didn't fit in with Adrin's social circle, despite the fact that Adrin never made her feel like she needed to. Sometimes they got lost in translation as Reia fell too far into her own thought. Although Adrin always comforted her and kept promising that those differences would never come between them, Reia decided to end thing with him.
It’s okay Rei, I respect your choice whatever it is.
Thank you for everything.
Anyways, please give me some time to move on lol.
By the time Reia read those texts, she had started to cry. But she knew it was the best thing to do. Adrin was perfect, but not for her.
***
After quite a while, Reia had felt empty. No more Adrin asking about her day going, no more Adrin with his jokes, and no more Adrin who was always her one call away. Reia knew she should move on too.
